Who says we can't?

The Stranger blog says that The Onion blog is nuts for trying to start a book club. I bet that someone said that about Oprah, too!

I think it's a good idea.

I'll be the first member. Since I'm reading Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach right now, that's what we'll start with.

Here's what you do:

  1. Run out RIGHT NOW, buy the book. (or get it at the library, or from a friend)
  2. Read it.
  3. Check back here later, we'll have a discussion.
  4. It will be fun.
That is all.

Well, I suppose we could have a Free Form reading club. Oprah move over, we're not even going to read the same book. Different books.

Ok, here we go.

Leprosy sounds like an interesting subject.

oh yea i didnt realise it was about the same book. i was in a rush and im absolutly knackered.one of my patients has been causing some headaches, then she screamed. yey.

leprosy. the book is about a girl growing up discovering their past. she goes to greece to find out more. and the story unfolds with al sort of twists and turns and horrific-ness.

i should get your book though. it looks like an interesting read, espeically as i read most words in the hospital canteen, it could turn some heads! but you do realisei it takes me a while to read. so i wont be done in a day,nor a week. im not sure im a quick enough reader to be part of your discussions.

so i'll just shut up-

on this subject anyway!

I read that one! It was very good, sort of gave me a squirmy feeling, yet rather makes me want to donate my body to science when I die...

Do listening to books on tape count? I have read Stiff and the book Meridith is reading Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. Currently, I'm listening to Neverwhere. Just wondering?
