Delemont!

From what I can tell, Delemont is a fairly quiet and cute town. The population is around 11,000--which makes it the largest city in the canton of Jura. The people speak French. The Swiss army knife factory is in Delemont and it is near the highest mountain in the Jura range. There are many old things in Delemont (old by American standards at least). On the 31st of May they had a fair.

Here's the run down of the Delemont community fair. It was kind of lame. Lame Sauce even. I suppose for a moderately small town it was fairly decently done, and I'm sure the children had a good time. There was dancing, fishing in the fountain, and bad rides.

The New York Wacky house was the biggest waste of three francs I've ever encountered (should have had a beer instead). I expected to find scary things inside, scary American things. Instead, it was just a bunch of walking over floors that moved in subtly different ways. A good thin about the New York wacky house was that when we got to the top we were able to get a good view of the main 'stage' area where some sub par dancing was going on.

After we got through the awful wacky house, we watched some singers from Ticino. I think they were singing in Italian (which makes sense because Ticino is near Italy). They sang popular hits such as Fleur di Montagnae (sic). They were all over 65 and looked like they were having a super great time.

Oh, and then we stuck our hands in the Boca de Verite (ooooohhhhhh spoooookkyyyyy). Laura got her fortunate written based on a laser analysis of the lines in her hand. It was pretty accurate if you ask me. It pronounced her stubborn and over achieving.

Here's the best part of the Delemont fair though: Fishing in the fountain. I'll just put the pictures up, no explination needed, except this: When the kiddos catch a fish, they haul it out of the fountain and beat it's head on the steps till it's dead.
